“Glynn Albert Green’s first love was his family, a love which expanded to encompass the community around him. After spending his childhood near O'Reilly's Bridge, Glynn married Jean Godwin and served as a Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces. He attended Queen’s University for chemistry and Osgoode Hall for law. Glynn was a long time resident of Fonthill and a lawyer in Welland. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years, as well as a Chairman of the Niagara District School Board. He always believed that youth should receive the best education possible, which extended to a devotion to the importance of extracurricular sports. Glynn had a passion for hockey, and his “Dawn Patrol” would shuttle neighbourhood children to the Welland Arena in the small hours of the morning so that they too could find their love for Canada’s game. In addition, Glynn also hosted hockey teams from Sweden, representing the community’s hospitality with pride. He was awarded the title of “Mr. Little NHL” and was made an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Little NHL. When he passed away in 1976, he left behind his wife Jean, his nine children, and a legacy of community service and dedication to education.”
